Well, by now you've probably heard that Triumph has decided to reform for the upcoming Sweden Rock Festival and there are plans for a full tour in 2009.  Finally!

A Night Of Triumph Live, originally released on VHS back in the day, was remastered in 5.1 sound (DTS and Dolby Digital) for DVD release in 2004, and we figured now was a good time to give it a bit of press.  Better late than never, I guess.  This DVD captures Triumph appearing live at the Metro Center Arena in Halifax, Nova Scotia on January 16, 1987 in support of The Sport Of Kings release.  Looking at this DVD, I was amazed by the clarity - the overall quality of the video.  You'll be hard-pressed to find another 1980s performance by any band with this picture quality.  Additionally, the sound is nothing short of spectacular.  While the set list is limited to 82 minutes, it does hit upon the band's best known songs.  The three songs ("Tears In The Rain," "Somebody's Out There," and "Take A Stand") featured from The Sport Of Kings sound great live but certainly show the band's radio-friendly direction at the time.

The Bloody Truth: The original unit only made one more album after this tour and shortly after guitarist Rik Emmett departed.  The cracks in the pavement definitely weren't apparent on this DVD though.  The addition of touring guitarist/keyboardist Rick Santers on the tour was a bit weird and in my opinion diluted the power trio vibe (but I guess it was better than hearing keyboard samples).  Despite that minor point, A Night Of Triumph Live is a must-have.  A short spotlight from a previous tour called Backstage At The Spectrum is included as a bonus, along with one of the versions of the "Just One Night" promo video and a live version of "When The Lights Go Down" culled from Live At The US Festival.
