Silent Force features former Royal Hunt vocalist D.C. Cooper and former Primal Fear guitarist Alex Beyrodt, and this is the group's third studio album.  It has been three years since their last release, Infatuator, and the one thing that you'll notice with Worlds Apart is that D.C. does not perform any Rob Halford-ish songs on this one.  While you'd think D.C. was Rob Halford on "Infatuator," it really was a one off thing recording-wise.  The actual purpose of that song was to prove that he would have been a better choice than Ripper Owens to replace Halford in Priest.

Worlds Apart seems less aggressive than Infatuator, as there is a more melodic approach to the material.  This is evident on  "No One Lives Forever" where the chorus is commercial and the keyboards are bouncy.  The mid-paced timing of the majestic "Hold On" is also a surprise.  With that said, the opener "Ride The Storm" has the patented power metal double bass drumming moving it along.

The Bloody Truth:  Silent Force is one of the most accomplished power metal bands in the scene today, although they don't seem to get much attention.  D.C. is true vocal talent, Alex can tear up the fretboard, they're solid songwriters, and they do not sound like every other power metal band out there.  Still, I don't think they've written the album that they're capable of.  Worlds Apart is a good album, just not a great one.  While the band concentrates on writing refrained chorues, I'd like to hear some more anthem driven choruses in the vein of "Infatuator," a reduction in the keyboards, and some more biting guitar licks.  Beyrodt is certainly capable of this but currently he lets the keyboards take a little too much control.  Despite this, Silent Force are a very professional, tight unit, and should appeal to all fans of the genre.
