Chris Poland was Dave Mustaine's original right hand man on the first two Megadeth albums (Killing Is My Business… and Peace Sells…), and he released Return To Metalopolis soon after exiting the band in 1986. This re-release is re-mixed and re-mastered, and includes two new tracks not found on the original ("30 Day Hue" and the exhaustive 14-minute "The Heavy Guitar Jam"). This is an instrumental guitar-based album, and any fan of the usual suspects of guitar instrumentalists (Satch, Pell, MacAlpine, Mattsson, etc.) will enjoy this one, although it might be a bit overwhelming for a fan not accustomed to this style. Megadeth fans will probably find something to latch onto, but overall the album has more in common with Surfing With The Alien than Rust In Peace.

The Bloody Truth: Chris proves to be an accomplished guitarist, and after listening to the fluid guitar and bass lines (Poland plays both, while his brother Mark plays drums) you realize he didn't get enough recognition in Mustaine's shadow. Despite other projects (Damn the Machine, Mumbo's Brain, OHM, and another solo album called Chasing The Sun), you wonder why he didn't become more successful in the genre. Definitely worth checking out.
