Drama Of The Ages is album number three for Columbus Ohio's Jacobs Dream.  One would have thought that the band was long gone though, since their last release, Theater Of War, was released back in 2001.  This time out, the unit has a new vocalist, Chaz Bond, who has a tough, mid-range set of pipes.

I was rather disinterested with the band's previous releases, as I found their brand of power metal to be rather generic and derivative.  Drama Of The Ages comes off much better, as it's a bit darker, the musicianship is top notch, and the addition of Bond gives the band a more professional edge.  The disc has a classic feel and is reminiscent of early Queensryche (without the high-end vocals) and Lethal.

The Bloody Truth: The only weak point that I can find on Drama Of The Ages is the lack of choruses.  The musicianship is tight and precise and the vocals are haunting and powerful.  Fans of early U.S. power metal (not like today's constant double bass drum barrage) will love this.
