Despite all of his success, K.K. is completely in touch with what he wants to do to further the traditional metal genre. Besides lending support to Violent Storm, he also just launched THE STEEL MILL located at www.kkdowning.net, a site dedicated to turning Priest fans onto other metal artists.

If
you're a metalhead, you know who K.K. Downing is. The man is one
half of the greatest double axe-attack in the history of metal music.
Now he's stretching out a bit, lending his skills for the first time to a
band outside of Judas Priest. The band is VIOLENT STORM, led
by former Ritchie Blackmore / Yngwie Malmsteen bassist Mick Cervino [An
interview with Mick will appear on MetalDreams.net soon]. Forming a
friendship with Cervino, K.K. willingly agreed to play guitar on two
tracks on Violent Storm's traditional debut, Storm Warning.
K.K. didn't stop there, though. A few leads eventually led to him taking
on the role of executive producer and bringing the well-respected Roy Z.
in on the project to do the mixing and engineering.
